NOTES: From Maine Genealogist and Biographer, "Eddy Family" by Col. J.W. Porter, Burlington, ME: Rev. William Eddy, A.M., was Vicar of Saint Dunstans' Church in Cranbrook, County of Kent, Kngland from 1589 to 1616. He was gentleman of much method and order in all his movements in the parish. He was a strict Episcopalian, and did very much for his church and parishioners. All the loose register s of the parish dating back from 1588 were collected, arranged and properly entered by him in a parchment book purchased by him expressly for that purpose. For his services he was paid by the parish the sum of four pounds. He beautifully engrossed about eighty of its folio pages, besides illuminating others. On one page therein is the following entry; "Paid that was spent in charges riding to Canterbury for to carry in the money gathered here for Virginia."
